Pearl Cabochon Necklace
ARTIST TRIBUTE COLLECTION
Kelly Wiese Original Design: Pearl Cabochon Necklace • 2007
This remarkable necklace has a story that began nearly twenty years ago. It originated in Kelly Wiese’s 2007 Pearl Cabochon Necklace class, where Ann Scheer began creating the piece from Kelly’s original class kit and instructions.
Years later, the partially completed necklace came into my hands. With respect for the work already begun and Kelly’s original design, I continued the beadwork—completing the pearl cabochon, elaborate cascading fringe, and long hand-beaded necklace chain. I also added an additional closure so the necklace can be worn at two different lengths.
Kelly Wiese is a bead artist, designer, author, and teacher known for her intricate beadwork and beautifully detailed designs. This finished necklace is presented in our Artist Tribute Collection with appreciation for Kelly’s artistry and the knowledge she shared through her teaching.
Original Design © Kelly Wiese, 2007. All rights to the original design remain with the designer.
At the heart of the necklace is an extraordinary pearl cabochon with a naturally sculptural surface, framed by layers of shimmering teal, aqua, iridescent, and gold seed beads. Pearls and crystals embellish the cabochon and flow into an abundant, free-form fringe filled with movement and texture. A hand-beaded teal chain completes this one-of-a-kind statement piece.

Kelly Wiese’s original design and teaching began the story of this necklace. Ann Scheer placed the first beads, and I had the privilege many years later of continuing that work and bringing the piece to completion.
It is offered with sincere appreciation for the artists, teachers, and beadworkers whose hands and knowledge allow beautiful work to continue from one maker to another.
